Georgi Dimitrov Mausoleum

mauso.jpgGeorgi Dimitrov was prime minister of Bulgaria from 1946 till he died in 1949. You could see his embalmed body in the mausoleum until the middle of the 1990’s, then it was cremated. As you can see from my picture it became a popular place for graffiti artists. The Mausoleum was regarded as one of the most obvious symbols of Communism and the Totalarism of the time. In August 1999, it took almost a week of constant toil to demolish the place!

  • Address: already ruined :-)
  • Directions: To the East of Ploschtad Batenberg. Now there are just gardens there.
